The clutch master cylinder is the element of the hydraulic system that creates hydraulic pressure and is connected directly to the clutch pedal. Seal over port systems and center-feed type systems are the two basic kinds of master cylinders depending on the internal mechanism of hydraulic pressure.
To move the piston in the master cylinder, the seal over port system employs a push rod connected to the clutch pedal. Seals connected to the piston move forward because the piston moves. Because the brake caliper piston expands farther as your brake pads wear, the brake fluid level declines with time, but the clutch does not.
